FLANGER #505

PROJECT

**********

Our latest acquisition! Flanger 505 was one of the two Phillips & Rangeley flangers and is the only ex-P&R car we have at this time. In 2000, this car was surveyed to estimate repairs. It needs one 20' side sill, both end sills and other frame work. After that, it will need both sides sheathed. We'll need four passenger-type pedestals and journal boxes and several supporting straps. On the plus side, most of the frame is in good shape, as are the ends and the one surviving door. Both side windows have already been overhauled.

HELP ME! I'm sitting out in the weather next to the Old Stone Fort waiting for funding and a work crew.

It's hard to believe looking at her present condition, but this is restorable!

In the summer of 2002, the flanger was moved into a roundhouse bay. The immediate purpose was to get it out of the weather, but there is significance to the placement in front of the carpenter shop under construction in the background.
