AMBLESIDE ROOF

Yes, it is true, this is not directly a Railroad project. However, the building is an asset of the SRRL and, as such, we must protect its value as best we can. At this point Ambleside is structurally sound, but the roof has deteriorated and is leaking badly. We have a quote for $13,000 to put a new roof on the building. This will protect it until we decide its long term disposition. Problem: we don't have the $13,000. HELP!


OK, we got a big donation to cover this one. Here, you see the roof work being completed in December 2003. So, it is now weather tight and safe from further deteriorization for a while. Some day we will restore the interior and try to find some creative use for the structure in connection with the Railroad.
